NYC 4300 Series MU

The NYC railroad took delivery of the first “multiple unit” cars in 1906-7. Throughout the
57 years that “MU’s” operated there were many modifications which created four unique
styles. Model Memories has reproduced the final style as a coach and combination
coach/baggage.

4700/1100 Series MU

Manufactured by the Pullman Company, the NYC purchased 26 units and introduced these cars in 1962. These units continued operation during the Penn Central and Metro-North years.
The 4700 series differed visually from earlier cars by smaller windows, roof vents, and dual headlights. After Penn Central’s bankruptcy the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (New York state) took over Penn Central and re-numbered these cars as the 1100 ACMU series.
